Special Treatments for Temporary Visitors and foreigners having the residence cards

Immigration Services Agency of Japan announced special treatments for staying with the status of  1. Temporary Visitor, 2. Technical Intern Training, 3. Student and statuses of residence. The detailed explanation is here.

  1. Temporary Visitor are originally staying in Japan by visa waiver program and usually not allowed to extend the term more than 90 days. However, because of the Covit-19 problems, flight from Japan to their countries were cancelled and many foreign visitors can’t go back to the countries. Therefore, Agency permits them to work up to 28 hours/week and extend the 90 days term. More detailed of this permission, please check here.
  2. If the foreigners stay in Japan as the status of “Technical Intern Training” or “Designated Activities”, they are permitted to change the status to “Designated Activities” and 6 months work is admitted.
  3. If the foreigners stay in Japan as the status of “Student” wishing the work, they are permitted to change the status to “Designated Activities” and 6 months within 28 hours/week are admitted.
  4. If the foreigners stay in Japan with the other status as described above, and do not work here, they are permitted to change the status to 6 months “Designated Activities.” If they have difficulty to maintain their life cost, the work for 28hours/week will be permitted for further process. See the details here (the same link as part 1).

They are fair treatments although too slow. Wish the difficulty will be solved soon.
