I obtained student visa for studying in the US, went there and began working by practical training visa (working visa to the foreign student for half or one year after graduating for exercising their learning at university) after graduating Law School. At that time, Ifd brooded and researched what kind of visa I should have obtained for staying in the US. During working at accounting firm, the employment agency offered me to sponsor my visa and I asked immigrant lawyer introduced by my friend who obtained working visa by asking him and her situation was similar to me. After Ifd been waiting more than year (of course I could not go outside of US during the time) and immigrant office requested me to resubmit other documents, my application for visa was denied. I appealed because I was not convinced by the reason of denial. However, immigrant office did not care at all and I was forced to go back to Japan.Also, Immigrant law was amended when I applied for visa that immigrant shall not have received salary for work during applying for working visa (How to maintain the life if immigrant cannot obtain salary when applying for visa? It does not make sense!) I was realized and shocked that the US, country of freedom I thought, treated immigrant with cruelty.
One day after going back to Japan, I suddenly acknowledged Gyosei-shoshi, not immigrant lawyer dealt with visa matter in Japan, thought I wanted to help people having the same situation as me and began studying for the exam five day later.

In Japan, the word gIntellectual Property ( property means asset and owner, so until 2000, IP had been translated into two words in Japanese) h became popular was the year of 2001 when the prime minister Mr. Koizumi made IP strategy headquarter in the ministerial office and he took up the director post. In 2003, I came back from the US, I was truly surprised by the facts that there were lots of IP specialized lawyer I ed never heard before (they may have studied somewhere during my absence!) and there were lots of IP related seminars which required expensive fees.
I learned Intellectual Property, especially copyright, trademark and entertainment law at Cardozo School of Law that was ranked five as IP program in the US and after graduation, I was involved IP or license business in New York. After going back to Japan, as an employee of Patent and entertainment companies, I had had lots of business negotiation regarding contract and made or reviewed huge volume (more then 1,500) of contracts and since I opened the office, Ifve been called upon the license negotiation to foreign company or other IP related consulting service. One of my strengths is extensive IP knowledge and network both domestic and international. Generally, copyright, privacy or publicity rights and moral right are difficult ones to understand and incur the big trouble to use without ownerfs permission. Especially, if you use them on your URL or blog, you should be cautious and verify because everybody can see and check them through internet. Also our office assists the patent and trademark issue all though we canft prepare for the registration document of them and our office will willingly introduce the patent lawyer.

Contracts are essential documents for the verification of right and payment of parties. There is also difficult to confirm whether the contract is against the law or regulation and what kind of words and articles are necessary. So-called model contracts for beginner can be obtained via internet and the various types of books collecting model ones are sold in the bookstores. There are, at some point, useful if you use them for reference of making contracts. However, we do not experience the same background as the model contract. Also, most of the model contracts do not satisfy the minimal level of words and article and if you use them and had in trouble, nobody but you are responsible for the matter.
In the event you contract with the foreign company or subsidiary of foreign company in Japan, the volume of the agreement is more than 10 pages written in English. Typical Japanese parties expect to discuss the matter which does not state in their agreement (in fact, model type of contract in Japan state for such incident). On the other hand, model contract written in English try to include every incidental matter as possible and bound not to place themselves at a disadvantage. Such a difference between Japanese and non Japanese is not understandable for the translator who is not familiar with legal matter and itfs kind of gamble if you ask her or him for making contract. The difference of Gyosei shoshi, Shiho shoshi (both can be interpreted Contract Attorney ) or Shakaihoken romushi (deal with social insurance and labor matter) and what kind of work Lawyer will and other licensors canft are make us confused. If you come to our office, we advise in the limit of the license and introduce other licensor for the financial or labor matter. If you need to create some documents which are out of our specializing area, we will present the matter to other Gyosei shoshi.
