1.What is Gyosei-shoshi (Contract Attorney)?

What kind of things Gyosei-shoshi can do to get this license?
According to Article 1-2 of Gyosei-shoshi law, we can make the documents submitting for public offices or relating rights and obligations and authorization of facts by asking for the third party and acquiring the fee. According to Article 3, we can acts on behalf of the third party for the process above or power of attorney of hearing and justification opportunity relating to these authorizations. They mean we can make the contracts and documents on behalf of clients. Different from lawyer, we can’t deal with lawsuits and legal disputes but you can ask us to solve the general troubles and negotiation about contracts. Also, the process of registration for visa or any other immigration matters had been an exclusive service of Gyosei-shoshi (sole license service by obtaining the fee) and not long time ago when lawyers in Japan began participating in this service. In the US, immigration That lawyers deal with the same service as ours means our achievement regarding immigration matter is more than lawyers in Japan. [By the way, Lawyers in the US seems to announce their specialized area, such as immigration, finance and corporation law. On the other hand, typical Japanese lawyers do not announce their strong area and appeal every area is OK (of course not, though.) By the change of the legal examination system in Japan, the number of lawyers will become increased and then, these customs change? ] I went to the US to enter a law school and had trouble for obtaining working visa when working for the company there. After going back to Japan, I dealt with contracts and negotiation both Japanese and English mainly focusing on licensing at legal department of IT company. After becoming Gyosei Shoshi, I began dealing with retrieve of dept and administrative authorization matter. Visa or other international legal matters, copyrights, trademark or other IP matters and making contracts are our strong area.

After Graduating Waseda University, BA in Economics. After worked for Pony Canyon, producing music and picture, moved to AD agency Cosmo Communications for acquiring marketing knowledge. Decided to study at law school in the US during working at Cosmo, entered Chuo University and obtained BA in law two and half years later. Entered Cardozo School of Law, Intellectual Property program in NY and accomplished LLM (master of Law). After graduating Cardozo, worked for new internet radio launching by negotiation about local server setting and copyright permission or other companies by licensing agreement in NY. Later, while working for KPMG (accounting firm) New York office, studied Business law and Marketing at NYU but went back to Japan in the summer of 2003. In Japan, dealt with music copyright, licensing of contents, software and database business at IP and legal departments. The member of Tokyo Gyosei-shoshi association. Obtained license of Immigration Attorney, passed Upper Business Copyright and Real Estate Management Examinations.
